Proposal Review and Selection

Assignment of Clinic/Convention session content:

1. The Band Division program exclusively shall include:

A. All sessions devoted to wind and percussion instruction including:

 i) All beginning band organization and technique sessions
ii) All wind and percussion instrument pedagogy and/or literature sessions
iii) All instrumental jazz organization and technique sessions
iv) All instrumental jazz pedagogy and/or literature sessions

B. All wind and percussion and jazz performing ensembles

C. All wind and percussion and instrumental jazz demonstration groups

D. All music industry or sponsored workshops with content pertaining to the areas listed in section 1a. 1 - 4.
The pervcentage of commercially sponsored workshops which introduce new products or materials are permissible but,
should be kept to a minimum.

2. The Vocal Division program exclusively shall include:

A. All sessions devoted to vocal and/or choral instruction, including:

 i) All vocal/choral organization and technique sessions
ii) All vocal pedagogy sessions
iii) All vocal and/or choral literature sessions

 B. All choral performing ensembles

C. All vocal jazz/show choir ensembles, plus:

 i) All vocal jazz/show choir organization and technique sessions
ii) All vocal jazz/show choir pedagogy and/or literature sessions

D. All vocal or choral demonstration groups

E. All music industry or sponsored workshops with content pertaining to the area listed in sections 2a. 1 – 3.
The percentage of commercially sponsored workshops should be kept to a minimum.

3. The Orchestra Division program exclusively shall include:

A. All sessions devoted to string instruction, including:

 i) All beginning string or orchestra organization and technique sessions
ii) All string orchestra pedagogy and/or literature sessions

B. All string orchestra or full orchestra performing ensembles

C. All string orchestra and full orchestra demonstration groups

D. All music industry or sponsored workshops with content pertaining to the area listed in sections 3a. 1–2.
The percentage of commercially sponsored workshops should be kept to a minimum.

4. The Elementary Division program exclusively shall include:

A. All sessions devoted to instruction, methodology, and/or materials in “early childhood”

B. All sessions devoted to instruction, methodology, and/or materials in elementary schools,
including Kindergarten and preschool (6/05/95)

C. All vocal/choral or instrumental performing ensembles, which include elementary school participants,
with the exception of beginning wind and percussion and beginning string ensembles

D. All early childhood or elementary demonstration groups

E. All music industry or sponsored workshops with content pertaining to the area listed in section 4a, b, & c.
The Percentage of commercially sponsored workshops should be kept to a minimum.

5. The College Division program exclusively shall include:

A. All sessions devoted to music teacher training at the college/university level

B. All sessions devoted primarily to research in music education

C. All sessions with clear applications to all divisions, such as advocacy, assessment, or classroom management.

D. All college/university level faculty performing ensembles

E. All keyboard sessions
Accept/Reject/Add all division proposals in the convention database by June 30.

1. Select the appropriate Division from the Convention tab proposals section.
✓ = Accepted Χ = Rejected ? = Pending Decision

2. Select the proposal to review by clicking on View/Edit details.
3. Mark the session Accepted or Rejected.

4. If accepted, enter an “Short Name” for the session that will appear on the schedule spreadsheet.

5. Click "Submit".

6. Do this for every session found for your division.
A) All sessions must have either ✓ = Accepted or Χ = Rejected.
B) Do not leave any session marked ? = Pending Decision.

7. DO NOT accept more sessions than the schedule format will allow.
