TMEA Clinic/Convention Purpose
Held annually, the TMEA Clinic/Convention provides unparalleled opportunities for professional development for current and future music educators at every level and discipline. Each TMEA Division will host a diverse program of clinics to ensure every member has multiple offerings to foster their professional advancement and to help them in their personal support of all students through music education. Rooted in our commitment to excellence in music education, our convention will include performances by ensembles at every grade level and will feature the rehearsals and performances of our TMEA All-State ensembles. Our convention exhibit hall is a key component of our event, as our partners in the music industry commit to offering competitive prices and services to all attendees. All aspects of our annual event will further TMEA’s commitment to music education for all and will abide by TMEA’s convention inclusivity pledge (below).
Our Convention Inclusivity Pledge
TMEA is committed to providing a positive experience for all convention attendees. We expect every participant and presenter to adhere to our association’s commitment to offering an inclusive, respectful convention environment that invites participation from all, regardless of gender, race, ethnicity, national origin, age, sexual orientation or identity, education, disability, or other unique characteristics. Participants should report any behavior inconsistent with the principles outlined here, to TMEA staff.
Music Education for All
All students at every level deserve a well-balanced education that includes a comprehensive, high-quality, sequential program of music taught by teachers who are certified in music education. All students should have this opportunity regardless of gender, race, ethnicity, national origin, age, sexual orientation or identity, education, disability, economic status, religious background, or other unique characteristics. TMEA is committed to diversity, equity, inclusion, and access in music education. Through their music education, students at every level, should explore the music and traditions of a wide variety of cultures, musical styles, forms, and genres.
