Advertising Rates
The following rates apply to advertising in Southwestern Musician and the Clinic/Convention program:
Discounts
Discounts apply to the base rate only (Black & White rates below). If qualifying for multiple discounts, only the highest discount will be applied.
- September Issue: Contract by July 20 to receive a 20% discount on September advertising.
- Frequency: Pay less by contracting in at least 4 issues issues during one year (September–May). See 4x and 9x rates below.
- Educational Institutions: Receive a 15% discount.
Rates
Rates vary based on the following variables:
- Color: Rates vary depending on the amount of color included in the file. Cover ads must be 4-color.
- Frequency: the number of issues in which you advertise. Rates are lower starting with 4 insertions in a year and even lower with 9.
- Special Placement: Any request for special placement in a publication will incur a 15% charge to the base rate (Black & White rates below) before any discounts. See #9 in Terms & Conditions. Requests include but are not limited to the following: placement in the first third of the publication, right- or left-side placement, and placement within a specific TMEA divisional column, and center spread for a 2-page spread.

Rates are for a single ad in one issue at the size and color indicated. 4x and 9x rates are applied only at the point when that level of frequency has been contracted (discounted rates are not retroactive).

Make-Ready Artwork and Graphic Design
Basic artwork will be charged $50/hour to create or modify ad files to meet technical specifications. For design work beyond basic modifications, we recommend contacting independent graphic designer Ben White.
Inserts
Insert advertising is not accepted.
