Course Description

This session will explore strategies for creating a supportive environment where singers feel valued, understood, and encouraged to embrace their individuality. By embodying the spirit of Joy from the movie, directors can cultivate a culture of balanced harmony, creating an environment where every emotion is welcomed, understood, & embraced, nurturing genuine connections and emotional well-being.

About the Presenters

Nathan and Ashley Dame serve as Co-Directors of Choirs at Wylie East High School, where they lead a thriving choral program of 420 students enrolled in twelve performing ensembles. Nathan holds a Ph.D. In Choral Pedagogy/Music Education from the University of Kansas and Ashley earned her M.A. in Music Education from Texas Woman's University.   Choirs under their direction consistently earn the highest designations at contests and festivals and have been featured at Southwestern ACDA (2024, 2014), the National Tenor-Bass Choir Seminar (2025), TMEA (2022, 2012), and the National MS/JH Conference (2012).
