Will May is Dean of the School of Music at Baylor University, Waco, TX. He received his B.M.E. degree from Baylor University in 1969 and his M.M.E. degree from North Texas State University in 1975. In 1983, he completed his Ph.D. in Music Education with minors in Choral Music and in Educational Psychology/Statistics at the University of Kansas, Lawrence. Dr. May taught choral music in the Texas public schools at the junior and senior high school levels. He served as the choral music education specialist for the University of Kansas and the University of Northern Iowa. In 1981, he joined the University of North Texas College of Music faculty, was Chairman of the Division of Music Education from 1987-1993, Associate Dean, 1993-1999; and Interim Dean, 1999-2000. Dr. May has served on the editorial boards of national publications, Update: The Application of Research in Music Education and the Journal of Research in Music Education, was a member the Texas Commission on Standards for the Teaching Profession and was the national publications chairperson for the Music Educator National Conference. He currently serves as president of the Texas Association of Music Schools (TAMS). Dr. May's co-authored chapter, "Research on Musical Ensembles," appears in the Handbook of Research in Music Education.

Dr. May was the first person from the TMEA College Division to be elected as president of the Texas Music Educators Association.
