Robert McElroy is in demand throughout Texas, the United States and abroad for his skill, passion, and musicianship in the concert hall as well as in the classroom. His impressive career spans four decades of conducting bands, orchestras and choirs including the Band of the Welsh Guards, the Minden Band of the Queen’s Division and the Band of the Royal Military School of Music (Kneller Hall, London), the Orquestra de Camara of the University of Yucatan in Merida, Mexico, the Fresno Wind Orchestra, the Texas Community College All-State Band, the Texas Private and Parochial School All-State Band (with an invitation to return in 2006), several Houstonarea church choirs and numerous All-Region and Festival bands in Texas and nationwide—most recently at Columbine High School in Littleton, Colorado.

Mr. McElroy has recently “come out of retirement” and is beginning his third year as Assistant Professor of Music and Director of Instrumental Music Activities for Houston Baptist University (Houston, Texas). During his 35 years as an instructor of bands, choirs and orchestras in the Bellville, Texas schools and in the Cypress-Fairbanks Independent School District (northwest Houston), Mr. McElroy also had the opportunity of serving his profession in several local and statewide positions of leadership including chairman of the University Interscholastic League’s Prescribed Music Selection committee for concert band, executive board member of the Texas Music Adjudicators Association, Band Division Chairman and then president of the Texas Music Educators Association.
