TMEA's Texas Sesquicentennial Celebration 1836-1986

Jim Van Zandt is in his fifth year as Director of Fine Arts for the Round Rock Independent School District. In this capacity, he focuses on supporting student learning in Music, Art,Theatre, and Dance at all levels. He supervises 213 teachers, directs curriculum and staff development, and is involved with the operational areas of budget and equipment. He is very active in the process of recruiting, hiring and placement of teachers, and is a constant advocate for the importance of arts in education. Jim also oversees the structure and curriculum of the district's Fine Arts Academy.

Jim's bands have earned Best-In-Class or First Division awards in festivals in Colorado, Florida, Texas, Louisiana, and California, as well as consistent Sweepstakes awards in Texas interscholastic competition. He is active as clinician, guest conductor, and adjudicator, and has done so in Texas, Oklahoma, Arkansas, Louisiana, and Florida. Professional Associations include the Texas Music Educators Association, Texas Art Educators Association, Texas Educational Theatre Association, Texas Dance Educators Association, Texas Bandmasters Association, Texas Music Administrators Conference, Texas Choral Directors Association, and Texas Orchestra Directors Association, and Phi Beta Mu International Bandmasters Fraternity. 1985-1986 TMEA's Texas Sesquicentennial Celebration 1836-1986
