About the TMEA Elementary Music Materials Grant

TMEA is offering this grant to support elementary music programs across Texas. Active TMEA Members who teach elementary music may apply for grants of up to $1,000 to purchase materials for PreK–5 music instruction. Grant funds may be used for music, equipment, instruments, instructional software, and other educational materials.

Selection Criteria

Selection will be based on financial need, program funding, number of students served, and expected instructional impact of the requested materials. Applications must include all required components and follow the Elementary Music Materials Grant guidelines.

Apply for a Grant

Apply for a TMEA Elementary Music Materials Grant to help provide instructional materials for your PreK–5 music classroom in Texas. Applications are accepted September 1–October 30. Recipients will be notified in December, and funds will be disbursed in January.

Eligibility Requirements & Application Criteria

Grant applicants will receive notification of award status via email during the week of December 22, 2026.

For Current Elementary Educators

  • Elementary Music Materials Grant: Up to $1,000 to support the purchase of materials that strengthen elementary music instruction at a Texas school. Grant funds must support the campus elementary music program listed in the application and may be used for eligible materials from one or more vendors.

Eligibility Requirements

  • Applicant must be a current Active Member of TMEA
  • Be teaching elementary music at a Texas school

Grant Requirements

If awarded, grant funds must:

  • Support the campus elementary music program listed in the application.
  • Supplement, not supplant, the program’s existing budget.
  • Be used to purchase eligible materials from one or more vendors.
  • Be used for materials that remain the property of the campus music program listed in the application.
  • Be issued to the school district purchasing entity designated in the application.

Application Criteria

To be eligible to receive a TMEA Elementary Music Materials Grant, you must submit your completed Grant Application by 4:30 PM CT on October 30. Your application will include:

Details about the applicant and the campus elementary music program, grade levels taught, and total number of students served.

☑ Current Resource Information

Information about the current-year funding for the campus elementary music program, including district and/or campus funding and funds from other sources, such as PTA, PTO, fundraising, donations, or other support.

☑ Financial Need Statement

Short explanation of why you are seeking financial assistance and how this funding would help support your campus elementary music program.

☑ Materials Impact Statement

Short explanation of why you are requesting the specific materials, how they will be used, and what impact they will have on your classroom and students.

☑ Price Quote(s)

Itemized quote(s) for the eligible materials you would purchase with this grant funding. Quotes may come from one or more vendors and must include the items, estimated shipping when applicable, and total cost. When requesting a quote, please mention it is for the TMEA Elementary Music Materials Grant. Quotes must be uploaded in PDF format.

Frequently Asked Questions

May I submit more than one application if I teach at multiple campuses?

Yes. You may submit a separate application for each campus where you teach elementary music.

Are private school elementary music teachers eligible?

Yes. Active TMEA members who teach elementary music at a Texas private school are eligible to apply.

May I submit quotes from more than one vendor?

Yes. Applicants may upload itemized quotes from one or more vendors. The total amount requested should reflect the combined total of the uploaded quote(s), including shipping when applicable.

Is there a TMEA-approved vendor list?

No. Schools and districts should follow their approved purchasing processes. TMEA encourages applicants to request quotes from vendors who are TMEA Sustaining Members, given they support our association.

What types of materials are not eligible for grant funding?

Grant funds may not be used to purchase:

  • Technology hardware, such as tablets or similar devices.
  • Orchestra and band instruments, such as violins or flutes.

Who will receive the grant funds?

Grant funds will be issued to the eligible school or district purchasing entity listed in the application. Funds will not be issued directly to applicants, vendors, PTAs, PTOs, booster clubs, or individuals.

If awarded a grant, when will TMEA distribute the funds?

TMEA will distribute grant funds in January to the school financial entity submitted on the application.
