
Job Posting: Administrative Assistant
Texas Music Educators Association is seeking to hire a regular, full-time Administrative Assistant who will report to the Executive Director of TMEA. Applications close June 24, 2025, with an expected start date of no later than July 31. See below for details on applying.
Responsibilities
- Provide administrative support to the Executive Director
- Support the administration of multiple TMEA programs and services with timely and accurate data entry, response to inquiries, and production and mailing of materials.
- Greet visitors and manage incoming phone calls and emails, responding or forwarding as needed.
- Assist the Membership Manager with efficient and accurate data processing of TMEA membership and convention registration and response to member inquiries.
- Maintain and organize files and records, electronic and paper.
- Assist in planning and executing TMEA events, including the TMEA Clinic/Convention and internal meetings.
- Work collaboratively with the TMEA Administrative Director to provide appropriate assistance for other staff members.
- Ensure daily collection and distribution of mail.
- Manage office supplies and inventory.
Qualifications
- Minimum requirement: High school diploma or equivalent (associate’s or bachelor’s degree preferred).
- Essential: 2+ years of administrative or office experience required.
- Proficient in Microsoft products (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)
- Excellent data entry skills, with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong organizational skills
- Exceptionally attentive to detail in all tasks.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
Pay and Benefits
- Regular, full-time, hourly position
- Pay is commensurate with experience
- Access to insurance for medical, dental, and vision (employer-paid individual policy) after successful completion of 30 days employment

Location, Work Hours, and Travel
- This position is based at the TMEA office located 6 miles northeast of downtown Austin. This position requires on-site work in the office.
- Regular office hours are 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
- Travel is generally not required, except for the TMEA convention which is held in San Antonio in February.
