TMEA is pleased to offer several scholarships each year for Undergraduate and Graduate study. The deadline for all scholarships is November 15 at 4:30 p.m. of the current school year. Scholarships awarded are:

Applications will be screened by a committee representative of the TMEA membership. Winners will be announced on or before January 31, 2012.
Five-Year Undergraduate Scholarships
Awarded to Graduating High School Seniors
- Bill Cormack Scholarship - $3,000 per year for up to five years
- Past-Presidents Memorial Scholarship - $2,500 per year for up to five years
- Past-Presidents Scholarship - $2,500 per year for up to five years
ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS for the above five-year Undergraduate Scholarships:
- Must be entering as a full-time freshman in a Texas college or university in the fall, 2012.
- Must major in a music degree program leading to Texas teacher certification with music as the primary teaching field.

One-Year Undergraduate Scholarships
Awarded to Graduating High School Seniors
The Band, Orchestra, Vocal and Elementary Divisions each will award scholarships at $2,500 for one year only.
ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS for the above one-year Undergraduate Scholarships:
- Must be entering as a full-time freshman, as defined by the attending institution, in a Texas college or university in the fall, 2012.
- Must major in a music degree program leading to Texas teacher certification with music as the primary teaching field.

One-Year Undergraduate Scholarships
Awarded to College Student Member of TMEA
The College Division will award scholarships at $2,500 for one year only
ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS for the above one-year College Undergraduate Scholarships:
- Must be a current undergraduate music major in a music degree program leading to Texas teacher certification with music as the primary teaching field.
- Must be a College Student Member of TMEA.
- Must have a minimum 3.0 grade point average on a four-point scale.
- Student may reapply for consideration in subsequent years.
- Applicant must be enrolled as a full-time student as defined by the attending institution.

One-Semester Student Teaching Scholarships
Awarded to College Student Member of TMEA
The College Division will award scholarships at $2,000 for one semester only.
ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS for the above one-semester Student Teacher Scholarships:
- Must be a current music major in a music degree program leading to Texas teacher certification with music as the primary teaching field.
- Must be a College Student Member of TMEA.
- Must have a minimum 3.0 grade point average on a four-point scale.
- Must be scheduled to student teach within the two semesters following the application deadline.
- Must not currently have a TMEA Scholarship.

APPLICATION CRITERIA AND REQUIRED DOCUMENTATION FOR ALL UNDERGRADUATE AND STUDENT TEACHER SCHOLARSHIPS
- Completed TMEA Scholarship Application
- Self-composed short essay (1-2 pages) that describes your reasons for becoming a teacher, commitment to music education, and future career goals.
- 3-5 evaluations from individuals who can address your potential for success in an undergraduate music education program, potential for success as a music educator, music skills and abilities, work ethic, and other personal qualities. One evaluation must be submitted by your primary ensemble director. You must use the TMEA Scholarship Evaluation Form.
- Professional style resume that includes a list of any All-State groups in which you have participated, any musical honors you have achieved, and any academic or non-musical honors you have achieved.
- Copy of your current academic transcript.
- Additional criteria for Student Teacher Scholarship:
Verification by your advisor, school chair, or director that you will be student teaching the semester indicated. You must use the TMEA Scholarship Teaching Verification Form.
One-Year Graduate Study Scholarships
Awarded to Graduate Students for One Year Only at $1,250 for 3 Hours and $2,500 for 6+ Hours
ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS:
- Must be an Active member of TMEA.
- Must have a minimum of three years teaching experience in Texas with music as the primary teaching field.
- Must be pursuing a music-related graduate degree.
APPLICATION CRITERIA AND REQUIRED DOCUMENTATION:
- Completed TMEA Scholarship Application
- Self-composed short essay (1-2 pages) that describes your reasons for becoming a teacher, commitment to music education, and future career goals.
- 3-5 evaluations from individuals who can address your potential for success in an graduate music education program, potential for success as a music educator, music skills and abilities, work ethic, and other personal qualities. You must use the TMEA Scholarship Evaluation Form.
- Professional resume that includes any music and/or teaching honors or recognition you have received during your career.
