Congratulations on your child's selection to an All-State organization! This selection is a most prestigious honor. Review the following information about attending the TMEA annual TMEA Clinic/Convention.
Required Student Forms
Be sure that your child has all of their required forms successfully completed and signed as required before leaving for San Antonio. Properly completed forms are required for them to register as an All-State musician at the convention. Your child will access their forms at www.tmea.org/all-state available via log in (their director will be emailed the student log in information the week of January 11).
The Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center is located at 900 E. Market Street in San Antonio, Texas. All-State concerts are held in the convention center. Click here for directions to the convention center and information on parking and shuttle service.
Alert! Consider heavy traffic, parking, shuttle wait time/walk time, and convention center navigation time when you plan your travel. Enjoy this event the most by arriving very early!
Our convention takes place in a 1.3-million-square-foot convention center. You will walk a lot. Wear comfortable shoes and layers to help you remain comfortable in the wide range of temperatures throughout the center.
All-State student housing is reserved by TMEA and is assigned via housing requests submitted by the students' directors upon their selection to an All-State organization. Every effort is made to place students from the same school together in a hotel room; however, this is not always possible given the number of All-State students available from a school. Parents can make alternate housing arrangements; however, TMEA encourages students to stay in TMEA blocked housing as sharing a room with other All-State musicians is part of the overall experience for the student.
Given the number of hotels that TMEA arranges for All-State students, TMEA members and exhibitors, TMEA is not able to block housing for parents who plan to attend. We suggest that you use any available online reservation system to locate housing (e.g., Orbitz, Travelocity, etc.). To help your planning, consult the concert schedule included below.
All-State concerts occur throughout the day on Saturday, February 11 in the convention center. Concert Schedule and Line up Process
All cameras & recording equipment are prohibited and electronic devices must be turned off during concerts. Please do not bring babies or young children to concerts.
Each All-State student received four tickets to their All-State performance in advance of the convention. Because of the number of students involved, no more than four tickets can be provided to any family, regardless of circumstance. Non-ticket holders are allowed entrance 10 minutes prior to a performance, if seating is available (at this point, a ticket will not guarantee your entrance). (Exception: ATSSB All-State concerts do not have tickets issued.)
All-State Concert Entry Procedure
Allow ample time to arrive, park, and enter the convention center.
• No babies or small children are allowed entrance.
• No audio or video recording of the concerts is allowed.
• 10 minutes prior to the concert, a ticket does not guarantee entry.
Entrance to concerts does not require a convention badge. However, entrance to the Exhibit Hall does require a badge. Before going to the exhibit hall, obtain your complimentary family badges at the registration area VISITORS ALL-STATE FAMILY booth. TMEA encourages you to go through the exhibit hall to experience the latest products and services available.
