The TMEA Membership year is July 1 through June 30 of the following year.
Active Membership
Active Membership is open to any individual engaged in music education activities or any person who wishes to support music education and the purposes of the Texas Music Educators Association. Payment of the prescribed state dues will allow the individual the following privileges: participation in TMEA activities; the right to vote; the right to hold elective office; the right to enter students in any TMEA-sponsored audition and admittance to meetings upon compliance with registration requirement. Each member shall be entitled to receive nine issues of Southwestern Musician. Active Membership in TMEA is $50 annually.
Retired Membership
Retired Membership is open to those who have retired from employment related to music education activities. Upon payment of prescribed state dues, the individual shall have the same privileges as Active members except for the right to hold elective office or enter students in any TMEA-sponsored audition. Each member shall be entitled to receive nine issues of Southwestern Musician. Retired Membership in TMEA is $20 annually.
College Student Membership
College Student Membership is open to individual college students. College Student Membership, upon payment of the prescribed state dues, shall include admittance to TMEA meetings including the annual Clinic/Convention and the right to participate in the activities of the Student Section of the College Division. Each member shall be entitled to receive nine issues of Southwestern Musician. College Student Membership in TMEA is $20 annually.
Sustaining Membership
Sustaining Membership is open to organizations including booster clubs and business or other entities, as well as out-of-state colleges and universities. Upon payment of the prescribed state dues, Sustaining Membership shall entitle the organization to a complete list of TMEA members and nine issues of Southwestern Musician. Sustaining Membership is required for all exhibitors at the annual Clinic/Convention, and is $75 annually.
Institutional Membership
Institutional Membership is open to Texas colleges and universities who wish to support TMEA activities by payment of the prescribed dues. Institutional Membership shall include an individual Active Membership assigned to a person designated by the institution and nine issues of Southwestern Musician. Institutional Membership in TMEA is $55 annually. Each college or university must have an Institutional Membership to participate in College Night at the annual Clinic/Convention.
